What schematics are
A schematic is the “recipe” for a weapon or trap. You keep it forever and craft the weapon with materials when you need it. The rarer and higher-level the schematic, the stronger the weapon.
- You get them mostly from missions and quests.
- Also from llamas, especially upgrade llamas and the melee, trap or ranged ones.
- Some can be bought with gold in the Item Exchange.
Levels and evolution
- A schematic levels up with schematic XP, from missions, quests, llamas and recycling schematics you don’t use.
- At its max level (10 at first) a schematic can be evolved to unlock more levels.
- Evolving takes schematic XP, Pure Drops of Rain and schematic manuals (from recycling and the Collection Book).
Changing perks
After Plankerton’s second Storm Shield Defense you unlock the Perk Recombobulator: it lets you replace or upgrade a weapon’s perks using RE-PERK and PERK-UP. That is how a good weapon becomes the right weapon for your squad.
What to upgrade and what to drop
- Keep a varied arsenal: assault rifle, shotgun, SMG, pistol, sniper, one melee and one explosive weapon.
- Only upgrade weapons that suit your hero squad: a Ninja uses melee, a Soldier uses guns.
- Recycle duplicates and weapons you won’t use, but only after slotting them in the Collection Book if needed.
- Rankings change with updates. In LagoFast’s July 2026 list, for example, the top picks are Nocturno (assault rifle), Ground Pounder (shotgun) and Plasmatic Discharger (explosive).
